A focused tool for a specific workflow

Inspect X.509 certificates and Java keystores inside IntelliJ-based IDEs, with bounded local parsing and explicit validation limits.

  • Dedicated viewers for local PEM, DER, CRT, and CER certificate files
  • Password-prompted inspection of PKCS#12/PFX, JKS, and JCEKS keystores
  • Subject, issuer, serial number, validity, certificate metadata, and keystore entry inspection inside the IDE

From install to a safer decision

  1. Install CertView X.509 from JetBrains Marketplace in a compatible 2026.1 IDE.
  2. Open a supported certificate or keystore from the Project view.
  3. For protected keystores, enter the password in the IDE prompt and review the local entries and certificate metadata.
  4. Use dedicated trust, revocation, WebPKI, and organizational PKI tooling for validation decisions.

How the pieces fit together

This is a textual architecture map grounded in the public implementation. Follow the source link to inspect the exact modules, tests, and release history.

  1. IntelliJ Platform file types and a file editor provider recognize supported certificate and keystore files from the project.

  2. The plugin applies explicit file-size limits before local certificate or keystore parser work begins.

  3. Parsed certificate and entry models are rendered in a dedicated editor; password-protected keystores request credentials through the IDE flow.

Supported scope

  • PEM, DER, CRT, and CER
  • PKCS#12 / PFX
  • JKS and JCEKS

Explicit boundaries

  • Certificate files are limited to 1 MiB and keystores to 10 MiB; oversized inputs are refused before parsing to protect IDE responsiveness.
  • The plugin is an inspection tool, not a certificate authority validator, revocation checker, WebPKI policy engine, or substitute for organizational PKI review.
  • Never attach real private keys, customer certificates, keystores, passwords, signing credentials, or Marketplace tokens to public issues.
